Random Ramblings

Holy smokes. I discovered I could have ChatGPT write custom code for my WordPress website, and MINDBLOWN. I have already completely revamped my home page (I love how much more interactive and clean it feels now), and created a holding page for my new podcast. This is fun!

This week I came to the decision that I can put my fingers in my ears and screen “nah nah nah” about AI, or I can embrace this tool that isn’t going away, no matter how potentially damaging it is. I chose the latter, and am exploring more ways to use AI, including training it to be an assistant in my coaching business so that I can better serve my clients. I also had it create some silly images for fun (though I feel like this is a less-than-ethical use case that I don’t plan to continue).

I don’t (and won’t) subscribe to The New York Times, but this headline today punched me in the gut: “Gen X-ers say they now find themselves shut out from their chosen careers.” It continues, “the particular plight of Gen X is to have grown up in one world, only to hit middle age in a strange new land. Just when they should be at their peak, experienced workers in creative fields find that their skills are all but obsolete.” I’m hearing this from so many peers. It’s a tough time to be, friends.

I love podcasting. I started my first show, Lightbulb Moments, nearly a decade ago. That show evolved into Gutsy Boss and is now Feminist Founders, which I co-host with Faith Clarke. Last summer, I started Messy Liberation with my friend Taina Brown. I’ve also run the Feminist Podcasters Collective for more than a year. Do I need another podcast? Hell no. Should I start another podcast? Probably not. But do I want to, so I’m doing it anyway? Yep. Coming soon—Assigned Reading where a friend and I willd discuss a publicly available feminist text/essay. I’m so excited!

Like most people, I’m trying to use social media less. That’s why I’ve been thinking about micro-blogging on my website for at least a year. I’m taking action today after listening to a private podcast from Amelia Hruby. My plan is to update this spot daily-ish as a sort of public diary with random musings on business, life, and the world around me. Enjoy!
